COVID-19 – Our Response

Internationally, we are experiencing a high volume of people being diagnosed with COVID-19 – which is a new virus detected first in late 2019. The number of those infected is increasing rapidly, and we need to take urgent action as a nation to protect our residents.

On Thursday 12th March 2020, Boris Johnson (current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom) released a statement regarding COVID-19 and the actions our country intend to pursue to avoid the spreading of the contagious and vicious disease.

The National Health Service have confirmed the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • a new continuous cough and/or
  • high temperature

For the majority of citizens, COVID-19 will only affect you mildly. However, older people are more vulnerable and likely to be affected by this.

If you believe that you may have Coronavirus, then we urge that you self-isolate, and use the NHS 111 Online Service.
